Brittany Lauren Maynard (November 19, – November 1, ) was an American woman with terminal brain cancer who decided that she would end her own life "when the time seemed right." She was an advocate for the legalization of assisted death.
Maynard, 29, was terminally ill with brain cancer and moved to Oregon with her family last June so she could get access to that state’s Death with Dignity Act.
